(Digital - Intermediate)
Interest: 6.3 Composition: 5.8 Technique: 6.3 Total: 18.3
Exposure: ISO:800 f/9 1/200 300 mm (35mm equivalent)
- The chick holds some interest, but the rocks dominate the composition and the lighting and exposure detract.
- The maker kept the eye, beak, and some of the fur on the chest soft but the depth of field did not extend deep enough to get more of the chick and some of the habitat in focus. Since the subject is still, it may have been advantagous to stop the lens down to extend the depth of field. Another option to increase the impact of the image would be to crop the subject closer removing as much of the out of focus forground as possible.

- The chicks fur is precision sharp !; lighting rests perfectly. Helpful thought: As perfect as the bird is, the eye keeps going to the light blurry rock on the right - croppping it out & trimming some off the left would surely enhance.
